Day 26 - 28....

Steve worked on a project all day on Sat. at the house, hard to explain but it has to do with a vault door, as soon as he brings the door out to the house, I'll explain further. Today, Day 28, I went with him to help out and do my cleanup, I'm the master of cleaning up! After helping him with his project I dug a hole for a footing in the basement, was pretty easy to start but then I hit clay, got it done though.

All the outside & inside walls are up. I layed out both bathrooms so we know where the fixtures go.

The back of the house...

Not sure, but I know we have deer in the yard, can you find the hoof print? We also had some PRETTY good size paw prints, either a neighbor has a big dog or we have another creature lurking...

Also made a nice burn pile with all the wood scraps so when the weather permits we can have a bonfire, looking forward to some smoores...

Day 20-25...

No pics of the house this week, all outside and inside walls are up though. Waiting on the roof trusses. Just as well they aren't here, been rainy the last two days so they couldn't have worked anyway. Anxious to see with all the walls up, haven't been there since Sunday. Stay tuned.....

How about those girls?? Aren't they beautiful??

Day 19...

The walls are going up! It's beginning to look like.....A HOUSE!:)

As you can see the garage walls aren't up yet but most of the main floor is, trusses should start going up on Monday.....

Day 15...

Started to do the backfilling and grading of the yard. Framers put the basement walls up.

Day 16...
Put the trusses on for the main floor., looking into the basement from the walkout end.

A view from the road looking down the driveway, isn't finished with the final grading yet, will finish later this week.

Day 16...
Had the day off, Carrie went with me to pick out appliances, she and Steve talked me into Stainless. Also made a stop to pickup Steve's mount that he had done of the 10 pt. buck he shot last winter with a "Bow and Arrow", BEAUTIFUL isn't it?

Day 17...
Put the decking on for the main floor and Steve and I went out and painted it so it wouldn't soak up water and warp and also for easy cleanup, the framers liked it!

Day 18...
Framers started putting up the walls for the main floor, anxious to see it, will get pics this weekend. The excavators were there too filling in the garage and doing some more grading.

Day 14...

Had good intentions today, went out and started to pick more rocks for my rock garden but "Mother Nature" had other plans for us...it rained for the better part of the day so we went and had dinner with family, niece Susan and her son Zachary are here from Japan and it just so happened to be her birthday!

Day 13
Steve put the foam on the house and the framers started laying out the walls for the basement. Slow day because it isn't backfilled yet so it's hard to move around and it got kind of warm. Carrie came out on her motorcycle, she and I moved foam around for Steve, then we needed some material so she ran to Forest Lake for us. THANKS CARRIE!! I also collected a few rocks for my rock garden...

Day 12
Steve painted the weatherproofing on the foundation, came home a little blue, really that's the color of our foundation now, tomorrow it will be pink. Steve didn't take any pics, he was pretty busy, going out myself tomorrow, will try and get some before the colors get changed.
ALL the lumber was delivered for the house today. By ALL I mean ALL, they made a mistake, were only supposed to bring the floor trusses, floor decking and enough foam for the foundation but someone forgot to tell them that, Whoops! Framers were there checking it all out, will start setting lumber tomorrow.....

Day 9 - 10 & 11
LOTS has happened since we blogged last.. Day 9 & part of 10 they put the pans up for the foundation. Day 10 at approx 1:30 PM they started the pour. After 9 cement trucks, 65 yards of cement and 2-1/2 hours later we had a foundation! I watched the entire pour and it was the most amazing thing I've seen in a long time.

From the road you can see the boom truck, the cement trucks back up to it and pour the cement into a hopper and the boom truck pumps it out of a big hose....

Someone holds the hose over the pans but it's really an operator with a remote control joy stick that guides the hose into position so it pumps into the spaces between the pans and the others smooth out the tops, this is the walk-out end of the house....

Mike Anderson is the operator with the remote control....

This is the back of the house....

About 3/4 of the way through the pour it POURED rain, a little damage to the driveway but NO one got stuck, the excavator came later and smoothed it out.

Day 8
Not much happening today, delivered the pans for the foundation, hope to pour on Wed. Guess there's more to it than they thought.....

Day 7...
We (or should I say Steve) put tar on the footings today. They are going to be putting the poured wall pans up tomorrow and Tuesday (we are having poured walls so the pans hold the concrete in place). They will start pouring on Tuesday afternoon, plan on taking time off work to go watch cause I've never seen it done before. It's looking more like a house and the mental picture I've had since last year is taking shape.
Kind of got the pictures out of order a little bit but I think you can tell what's happening. The one with the backhoe on it is the beginning, then the footings for the basement, a view looking toward the road and finally a view from the road looking toward the house. I'm new at this but I promise I'll get better as will the pictures.
Oh, we had deer tracks on our driveway today too, good sign for Steve.
*Updated: pictures are in the correct order!

Day 3 - 4 - 5 & 6
Still haven't downloaded the pics but the excavating is done and the footings are in. I haven't see it since Day 2 so I'm hoping to go out tomorrow and take some more pics. Will be pouring the walls on Tuesday of next week. Seems like it was moving fast for a few days now we've slowed down. Will be able to see more progress once the framing starts.......

Day 2

Unfortunately "Mother Nature" had other plans for us today cause it rained and we needed it desperately! So, no pics to share, no digging today. We decided to wait until tomorrow instead of making a muddy mess. Stay tuned.....
