First off a BIG "Happy Birthday" to Steve, he had a milestone birthday on Oct. 11! It was a cold, blustery day and he worked at the house from 8:00 in the morning until 7:00 at night. It was a busy and LONGGGG day for him and to top it off I have a cold so his evening wasn't too exciting. I did cook him his favorite meal and he talked to the two most important people in his life, Chris and Carrie, so he was a happy camper.
It's been awhile since we've blogged last and alot has happened. The whole house got wrapped in the Perm-A-Barrier weather barrier and Steve is now installing the pink foam. Once that is done it's ready for siding and no insulation needed on the inside as it's all on the outside. A new system called "Persist Insulation System". This system keeps the moisture and cold on the outside of the house.
The foam and Wirsbo got laid down in the garage so that's already to be poured.
This is a view of the back of the house. From left to right:
Family room, dining area, kitchen (over the sink) and our bedroom on the upper level.
Rec room and two guest bedrooms on the lower level.
On Monday, the 9th of Oct., they started the septic system.
On Tuesday, the 10th of Oct., they poured the garage floor and front entry way slab.
We aren't sure what we are going to do in this entry way, we've talked about tiling it or maybe stamped concrete, not sure...
On Tuesday, the 10th of October they also hooked up the electric. YEAH!!! We now have POWER!!!
On Wednesday, the 11th of October Steve met with the well guy and he will be drilling in the next week or two. The plumber came too and he and Steve started to lay out the plumbing.
So all in all the last 30 days or so have been very productive, sorry for the delay in updating the blog. Since I've semi-retired alot has happened to me as well. The first week I was going to spend pampering myself, which I did the first day, I drove up to Ely and visited family for a few days and when I got home I got SICKER than all get out with a sinus and ear infection. Thought I was on the mend and much to my dismay I've ended up with a cold so this week hasn't been the best. All in all I enjoy my days off, do some running around for Steve and taking care of personal things at home. Rosie is getting spoiled cause I'm home so much, she thinks this is great!!!
Stay tuned.....
